Luke had his first “real” food

Thursday night we decided to give Luke some cereal for the first time. It went pretty well, and more importantly, we got it of video. Here are the results:

More visitors and pictures

No clever text, just some more pictures of events and visitors! We had our first “outing”, a trip to Target. It was fairly unremarkable, but it was a first nonetheless.

Lots of visitors, lots of food (for mom and dad)

Sunday yielded a lot of family and friends coming over to see the little fella, and with the visitors came a lot of delicious food for mom and dad! I don’t think I’m going to have to cook for a week! Everything from Shepherd’s Pie and Italian Beef to chocolate chip cookies and dirt desert, we are living the life of kings. To everyone that brought us food, thanks. It is very generous and helpful.
We got visitors from Some more Buraglio family, Mark and Jeff, as well as the Great Grandma and Grandpa Larkin, Grandma and Grandpa Toohill, , Grandma Buraglio, Tyler, Clara, Bryce, the Szymkiewicz family and Aunt Patricia. Good times!

First night and first full day: Integtration into the family.

Well, the first night was pretty uneventful. After the initial fumbling around with the car seat to get him home we pretty much just tried to settle in and form some kind of a pattern/routine. Luke sleeps really well so far and eats as he should so those stresses are minimal. Dexter and Chloe have warmed up. Dexter is curious and Chloe doesn’t seem to care at all. Folks have been coming and going all day and the dogs have been great.
We prepped our four legged kids for about 7 months using positive reinforcement as well as, dare I say, some indispensable DVDs and some CDs.
I think my favorite thing was probably the CD of baby sounds. We started playing that about 8 months before Luke arrived, that way, when he got here the crying and fussing wouldn’t be some foreign sound that would scare the dogs and cats. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The first DVD, Helping Fido welcome baby, had some really good information in it, most of it seemed like common sense to me, but I live with a Vet and she is well versed in behavior, specifically canine behavior. That said, I think it’s worth the money for the DVD.

The second DVD, The Dogs&Storks™ DVD answers the most common questions expecting families ask! was pretty good too, but like the first it seemed like common sense stuff to me. I must admit that I rushed through this one a bit so I should probably watch it again to give a fair assessment.

Overall I’d say all 3 products are a must have if you have dogs and are expecting, if for no other reason than to fill in gaps or refresh your mind regarding your dogs behavior.
